European energy, trade and competition policy were discussed Friday by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk with European Commission vice-president and Commissioner for Enterprise and Industry Guenther Verheugen.
"We discussed energy-consuming industry, energy policy, deregulation and climate as such are the issues of key significance for the future of the European and Polish economy," Tusk told reporters after the meeting.
The EC commissioner said that "there was a high level of agreement concerning fundamental assumptions of these policies." He stressed this was his first visit to Poland after the October 2007 elections and his first meeting with Tusk.
"I always meet here with a friendly atmosphere based on trust and I am glad that this cooperation marked by trust continues," Verheugen said, quoted by Polish news agency PAP.
Tusk declared he would do his best to free the Polish economy of unnecessary regulations hampering its development.
