The UN Human Rights Council on Thursday condemned Israel's recent military attacks and incursions in the Gaza Strip and called on all concerned parties to respect humanitarian law.

In a resolution adopted by a roll-call vote, the 47-state Council expressed its shock at the Israeli bombardments of civilian homes in Gaza.

While calling for an immediate cessation of all Israeli military attacks throughout the Occupied Palestinian Territories, the resolution also urged international action to put an end to the grave violations committed by Israel.

The resolution also urged all concerned parties, including Palestinian militants, to respect international human rights and humanitarian law and refrain from violence against civilian populations.

The resolution was presented by Pakistan on behalf of Muslim countries. It was passed by a vote of 33 in favor, one objection and 13 abstentions.

Introducing the resolution, Pakistan said that it was being presented in the backdrop of a very serious situation caused by the incessant Israeli military attacks in Gaza.
