The International Olympic Committee has toughened regulations to crack down on drug cheats for this summer's Beijing Olympic Games, as possession of any banned substances will now constitute a doping violation.
IOC spokeswoman Giselle Davies said on Thursday that previously, only use of substances on the World Anti-Doping Association's banned list constitutes an offence, but now possession will constitute a violation.
"That is a hardening of the anti-doping regulations," said Davies.
