European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso on Thursday welcomed Denmark's and Austria's approval of the Lisbon Treaty.

Denmark's parliament approved the treaty 90-25 on Thursday, making it the 10th European Union (EU) member state to ratify the treaty.

Austria's Federal Council on Thursday overwhelmingly approved the treaty, which passed the National Council on April 9.

The Lisbon Treaty, signed by EU heads of state and government in December, will make EU's much needed institutional reforms possible.

The entry into force of the treaty requires the ratification of all 27 member states of the EU.
