The members of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Regional Forum, who are here attending the forum's senior officials close-door meetings, viewed the Singapore army's chemical and biological defense demonstration on Wednesday.

The Singapore Armed Forces hosted the Forum delegates to a visit to the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Explosive (CBRE) Training Village in Seletar Camp, said the Singapore Defense Ministry in a statement.

During the visit, the delegates witnessed a demonstration of the detection and clearance of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) by the defense group as well as a decontamination procedure by the army's Medical Response Force.

The delegates also viewed a CBRE static display which included robotics, detection devices, decontamination equipment, and protection gear, said the statement.

Senior officials from the Forum members has been meeting in Singapore over the past two days to prepare for a gathering of foreign ministers in July.

The ASEAN Regional Forum involves ASEAN member countries, namely, Brunei Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, as well as sixteen other countries and organizations, like China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, the United States, and European Union.
