UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is heading to Sweden Wednesday afternoon, where he will attend an international meeting to review progress made in rebuilding Iraq.
During his two-day trip to Sweden, Ban will co-chair the Iraq Compact Annual Review Conference on Thursday in Uppsala, which lies 70 kilometers north of the capital Stockholm, his spokesperson Marie Okaba said.
This is the first annual review of progress made under the framework of the International Compact for Iraq, which includes commitments of Iraq on economic, political and security reforms and commitments of the international community to provide financial and other support.
The meeting will review the Annual Review Report prepared by the Iraqi government with assistance from the United Nations, which provides a comprehensive assessment of the progress so far and the challenges ahead. Source:Xinhua
