UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Wednesday expressed alarm over the situation in Zimbabwe, which is gearing up for a presidential run-off.
While briefing an informal meeting of the 192-member General Assembly, the secretary-general expressed his "profound alarm" over the situation in Zimbabwe, his spokesperson Michele Montas told reporters.
The current violence, intimidation and the arrest of opposition leaders are not conducive to credible elections, Ban asserted.
Should these conditions continue to prevail, the legitimacy of the election outcomes would be in question, he said.
Zimbabwe held presidential elections in March and a run-off election is due to be held on June 27.
