The G8 Summit, to be held in Tokyo, Japan from July 7 to 9, would deliberate on climate changes among others while it will highlight African issues, said Japanese Ambassador to Ethiopia Kunichi Komano.
Seven African heads of state and government, including Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi, are expected to hold discussions with G8 leaders on African issues, said Komano at a news conference.
Komano said the summit would dwell on climate changes, Africa's development, global economy, weapons of mass destruction and terrorism.
The summit is also expected to pass resolutions on pressing African issues after thorough deliberation, said the Japanese diplomat.
The summit would also deliberate on Japan's "Cool Earth 50" proposal, which calls for halving global carbon dioxide emissions by 2050, he said.
He said the summit would be an opportunity for G8 countries to hold firm conviction to support African nations in their efforts to realize the Millennium Development Goals.
Though Africa has many challenges, the continent has been registering encouraging economic growth, Komano said.
