UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon condemned on Wednesday the terrorist bomb attack outside the U.S. embassy in the Yemeni capital of Sanaa, which has killed at least 16 people and wounded many others.
"Attacks on diplomatic facilities and personnel worldwide are against international law and are totally unacceptable," said a statement issued by Ban's press office.
"The Secretary-General calls on the Yemeni authorities to spare no effort in bringing those responsible to justice," it said.
Ban also extended his condolences to the families of the victims, and wished those injured a full recovery, it added.
Earlier on Wednesday, an attack outside U.S. embassy in Yemen resulted in the killing of six assailants, six soldiers and four civilians. No American personnel were killed and injured.
A radical group calling itself the Islamic Jihad in Yemen claimed responsibility for the attack.
