The African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) leaders on Thursday gathered in the Ghanaian capital city of Accra for their 6th summit, with the food and energy issues high on their agenda.

During the two-day summit, the leaders will discuss the global food crisis, energy crisis, the status of the Economic Partnership Agreement, the future of the ACP group as well as climate change.

In wake of the global financial crisis, ACP leaders are expected to discuss the problem as it likely affects the economy of ACP member states.

Formed in 1975, the ACP group now comprises 48 sub-Saharan African countries, 16 Caribbean and 15 Pacific states.
