The European Union on Wednesday condemned the attacks in Kabul, capital of Afghanistan, in which a number of innocent civilians, UN staff members as well as Afghans have been killed and injured.
"The Presidency is shocked and appalled by this heinous act of terrorism and offers its condolences to families of victims," said the EU Presidency Sweden in a statement.
"The Presidency expresses its support to the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan and its solidarity with the mission's staff and their commitment to peace and development," added the statement.
Militants penetrated a UN guesthouse in Kabul, killing six foreign national staff of UN and three security guards of the compound. Five more UN staff were injured.
