Foreign Ministers of Non- Aligned Movement (NAM) member states in Bali, Indonesia on Wednesday jointly issued a Bali Commemorative Declaration to pay tribute to the founders of NAM and former leaders of its member states.
The document was issued at the 16th Ministerial Conference and the Commemorative Meeting of the 50th Anniversary of NAM that was formally established on Wednesday morning.
According to the declaration, foreign ministers attending the commemorative meeting stressed the need to enhance the role of NAM as a key driving force in addressing international issues of common concern to its members.
The Movement should therefore focus on issues that further unite rather than divide, and deal with global issues by further consolidating the common denominator among its membership, they added.
The foreign ministers reiterated their commitment to strengthen the collective actions of the NAM and enhance its leading role in defending and promoting the interests of the developing countries, by exploring ways and means through strengthening its existing mechanisms.
The declaration also listed a group of objectives and principles that NAM would promote in the next years and beyond, including to achieve a safer and more secure world, to create a multi-polar world, to reject unilateral sanctions imposed on any NAM countries, to reject any action aimed at the unconstitutional change of governments or the attempt at regime change.
It also includes supporting Palestinian people to realize freedom, expanding and deepening South-South cooperation and strengthening coordination and cooperation with the Group of 77 and China, and combating terrorism and transnational organized crime.
