The Hang Seng finally settled at 22,151, soaring 378 points, or 1.74 percent. Daily turnover was HK$81.7 billion. The China Enterprises Index (CSI), an index tracking the performance of mainland companies on the H-share market, gained 3 percent to 12,406.

Shares of mainland coal mining company China Shenhua Energy were spurred by the company''s unveiling of its listing plan to issue up to 1.8 billion A shares in the second half of the year. The company''s stock yesterday settled at HK$29.1, increasing HK$1.8 or 6.59 percent.
