The U.S. budget deficit will fall to about 205 billion in the fiscal year that ends in September, lower than the 244 billion dollars that the government forecast in February, The Bloomberg News reported on Wednesday.

The report said the White House's Office of Management and Budget is set to announce the administration's midyear fiscal review late Wednesday in Washington, followed by a statement from President George W. Bush.

The deficit this year probably will be 170 billion dollars, according to the median estimate of 40 economists in a Bloomberg News survey Tuesday.

The U.S. deficit, which peaked at 413 billion dollars in 2004, was 248 billion dollars this year.
