Brazil's state energy company Petrobras is to purchase 17 compression system units for a total of 75 million euros (about 103 million U.S. dollars) to be used in Brazil's gas facilities, said a statement from the company on Tuesday. Petrobras is to buy the system from German company Siemens, which will also install and sustain the system. Six units will go to Cacimbas in the country's southeastern state of Espirito Santo, which processes fuel from offshore platforms. The remaining 11 units will go to the Gasene Transport System in northeastern Brazil. Gasene will be made up of three gas pipelines, which are currently under construction and will begin operations in 2009.
