Vietnam exported salt worth 220,000 U.S. dollars, mainly to Japan, the United States, South Korea and China's Taiwan province in the first half of this year. The country is expected to earn 800,000 dollars from shipping abroad the product in 2007, local newspaper Investment reported Friday.
Vietnam is expected to produce 880,000 tons of salt in 2007, and 1.5 million tons in 2010. The country's salt producing area now is 12,300 hectares, up 4.2 percent in 2006.
