The report said it found the van in the accident was equipped with tires of two different sizes, three Chinese tires and one Michelin tire.
The real cause of the fatal accident was the misuse of the tires, said Shen Jinrong, the board chairman of Hangzhou Zhongce Rubber Co. Ltd.
The administration said it re-organized the sample testing of the Zhongce U.S.-exported tires and found the items fully met the requirements of the U.S. safety standards.
Japanese reports in May claimed that Chinese-made ceramic cooking pots were detected to contain excessive lead. However, tests done by three Japanese inspection organizations showed that the lead contained was 1.3 mg/L, well below the 2.5 mg/L requirement in Japanese laws and regulations on food and sanitation, according to the administration''s statement.
In response to the latest claims from the Philippines that the Chinese "White Rabbit" candy was tainted with formaldehyde, Li said the candy maker had not used formaldehyde in the production of its creamy candy according to their investigations and testing.
Formaldehyde, a known cancer causing agent, can be used as a preservative or disinfectant.
Li said the administration had received no official information concerning the issue from the Philippine government, and its Embassy to China said relevant information was unavailable when the administration contacted the embassy.
The administration discovered that related enterprises did use drugs unapproved for use in the United States in their aquatic exports to the United States, and it also found that some of the enterprises were not lawfully registered food exporters, said Li.
China and the United States will hold a meeting in Beijing to discuss the detention of four kinds of China''s seafood exports by the United States between July 31 and August 4.
The two countries will hold a vice-ministerial-level talk on food safety in August.
