The Hong Kong Monetary Authority announced Tuesday that the official foreign currency reserve assets of Hong Kong amounted to 137.1 billion U.S. dollars at the end of July.

The total foreign currency reserve assets represent about seven times the currency in circulation, or 33 percent of Hong Kong dollar M3, the authority said.

Hong Kong is the world's ninth largest holder of foreign currency reserves based on the latest published figures, after Chinese Mainland, Japan, Russia, China's Taiwan, South Korea, India, Brazil and Singapore.
