The Danish government has decided to contribute 11.6 million Nepali rupees (about 178,500 U. S. dollars) as an immediate assistance for the flood victims.
According to a press release issued Friday by the Embassy of Denmark in Kathmandu, the support is being provided to the Danish Red Cross to work closely with the Nepal Red Cross Society for providing emergency relief to the flood and landslide victims.
Further to this support the Embassy of Denmark has provided some 3.48 million rupees (about 53,500 dollars) for the immediate relief to the flood victims especially for the procurement and delivery of Non Food Relief items.
The agreement was signed between the Embassy of Denmark and Nepal Red Cross Society Friday.
According to the release, heavy monsoon in Nepal have caused more than 90 people dead and over 340,000 people of 56,000 families affected. Over 9,750 houses have been completely destroyed and more than 16,000 houses have been partially damaged.
The communication system, transportation network and public service establishments have also been damaged.
