Peruvian President Alan Garcia highlighted Friday the quality of Chinese products and said Peru should follow the development example of China.
At the signing ceremony of a contract between Chinese and Peruvian companies to install the first two portico cranes at the Callao port, Garcia said China has become a "great" industrial and technological power in the world.
It produces 70 percent of all the portico cranes in the world and high-quality airplanes and cars, the president said.
"We have to make unbelievers understand that China is a technological power. At this time it is the world's great workshop," he said.
China is a development example Peru must follow, the president said.
Under the contract, Peru's Energotec and Kalmar Industries-Triton Trading S.A. is purchasing the two cranes from China's Zhenhua Port Machinery Company (ZPMC) for 24 million U.S. dollars. The cranes will be placed in Callao, 14 km west of Lima.
