Dell Inc., the world's second- largest personal-computer maker, reported Thursday its net income rose 46 percent in the second quarter.
Net income increased to 733 million dollars, or 32 cents per share, from a previously reported 502 million dollars, or 22 cents per share, a year ago.
Revenue rose to 14.8 billion dollars from a reported 14.1 billion dollars a year earlier.
Dell said the higher quarterly profit was benefited from lower costs for disk drives, microprocessors and other components.
It added that component-cost declines may slow in the second half, hurting profitability.
