The eurozone unemployment remained stable at 6.9 percent in July, the European Union's statistics bureau Eurostat said on Friday.
It was the same with the previous month, according to revised figure by the Eurostat, which was the lowest level since the indicator was introduced in 1993.
The jobless rate in the 13-nation bloc sharing the same currency stood at 7.8 percent a year ago.
Among the 13 member states, the Netherlands recorded the lowest unemployment, which was 3.4 percent. Jobless rate in Germany, the largest economy in the euro zone, was unchanged in July compared to the previous month, while France saw slight improvement on the labor market, with unemployment down to 8.5 percent from 8.6 percent in June.
In the 27-nation EU, unemployment declined further from 6.9 percent in June to 6.8 percent in July. It was 7.9 percent in July 2006.
The Eurostat estimated that there were 16.0 million people unemployed in the EU in July, among which 10.4 million were in the euro zone.
As a comparison, jobless rate in the United States was 4.6 percent in July 2007, and the Japanese rate was 3.7 percent.
