Vietnam and Laos agreed to strengthen their cooperation, especially in the fields of investment and economy, local newspaper Vietnam News reported Monday.
During the meeting between Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung and his Lao counterpart Somsavat Lengsavat here on Sunday, the two sides agreed to promote investment cooperation, especially in the fields of hydroelectricity, mining and cash crop cultivation.
The countries should also make greater efforts in boosting their economic cooperation, and increase information exchanges, they noted.
They should soon complete preferential tax policies, aiming to achieve the two-way trade of one billion U.S. dollars in 2010 and 2 billion dollars in 2015, up from nearly 300 million dollars in 2006, Hung said.
