A survey released on Monday found that American workers are split regarding satisfaction with their compensation.

According to the survey, conducted by Express Personnel Services, an international staffing and human resources company, nearly half of all respondents, 48 percent, said they were paid well for the job they do, compared to 46 percent who said they are not paid well for the job they do.

Although opinions were split regarding pay among all respondents, when examined more closely additional demographic insights were found.

Respondents who believe they are paid adequately in general are age 45 and older, hold upper management job titles or own their own business, and have been with their current company for six years or longer.

Respondents who believe they are not paid adequately in general are between the ages of 25 and 35, hold an associate's degree or have some college experience, hold middle management or salaried positions and have been with their current company for five years or less.
