A Vietnam-China trade fair, the biggest-ever of this kind, will be held in Vietnam's northern Lao Cai province on Nov. 30- Dec. 5, Vietnam News Agency reported Wednesday.
The annual fair themed "Exchange, Cooperation, and Joint Development" will house 500 booths exhibiting farm and forestry products, seafood, machines, construction materials, automobiles, electrical and electronic equipment, garments, footwear, handicrafts and woodworks.
The six-day event, including economic contract signing ceremonies, business forums, and tourism promotion activities, will open practical opportunities for businesses seeking partners and expanding markets, said Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Thanh Bien.
The fair will also contribute to promoting the trade and investment cooperation between Lao Cai and China's Yunnan province in particular and between Vietnam and China in general, he noted.
As many as 395 firms showed their products at 600 booths at the Vietnam-China trade fair in 2006, compared with respective figures of 94 and 114 in 2001.
Trade between Vietnam and China increased to over 9.95 billion U.S. dollars in 2006 from 8.2 billion dollars in 2005, according to the Chinese Commercial Ministry.
