Vietnam has targeted cashew export revenues of 820-850 million U.S. dollars in 2020, up from estimated 560 million dollars in 2007, local newspaper Investment reported Monday.

The country has planned to increase its cashew output to 666, 000 tons in 2020, from expected 500,000 tons in 2010, the paper quoted sources from the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Vietnam shipped abroad 96,000 tons of cashew nuts valued at 396 million dollars in the first eight months of this year, posting respective year-on-year rises of 20.5 percent and 24.4 percent, according to the country's General Statistics Office.

It exported 127,000 tons of the nuts worth 505 million dollars, mainly to China, the United States, Russia, Japan and the Middle East, in 2006.
