Indonesia's state-run electricity company PLN signed Thursday the initial stage of the 10,000 megawatts power plant projects worth 914 billion rupiah (99.8 million US dollars) with private investors.
The initial projects include power transmissions across the main island of Java, involving five contractors.
"We hope all the transmission project contracts will be signed by October," PLN president Eddie Widijono told reporters here.
The company has targeted to complete all main transmissions six months before the new power plants begin operations.
The whole project is estimated to cost 18 trillion rupiah ( about 2 billion dollars).
