Vietnam is expected to earn one billion U.S. dollars or more from exporting 10 commodities this year, local media reported Friday.
The "one billion dollars export club" this year will include crude oil, rice, coffee, rubber, seafood, footware, garment and textile, electronics and components, wood products, and electrical wire and cable, Vietnam News newspaper quoted the country's Ministry of Industry and Trade as reporting.
The commodities posting high gains and sustainable export growth rates include seafood, which will fetch 3.8 billion dollars from export this year; garment and textile, predicted to earn 7.5 billion dollars; and electronics and components, 2.2 billion dollars. Rice exports were expected to earn 1.4 billion while coffee was predicted to gain 1.5 billion dollars.
Vietnam is expected to gain export revenues of 48 billion dollars in 2007, up from 39.6 billion dollars in 2006, according to the ministry.
