Vietnam's export to Asia is expected to reach 24.5 billion U.S. dollars this year, a year-on-year rise of 17 percent, local newspaper Vietnam Economic Times reported Monday.

However, its export growth to Asia, especially to China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) members, tends to slow down, the paper quoted the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade as reporting.

Vietnam's major exports to Asia include farm products, seafood, textiles and garments, and electric wires and cables.

The country is expected to gain export turnovers of 48 billion dollars in 2007, up from 39.6 billion dollars in 2006, according to the ministry.
