Vietnam gained woodwork export revenues of over 1.7 billion U.S. dollars in the first nine months of this year, a year-on-year surge of 24.9 percent, according to the country's Wood and Forest Products Processing Association on Monday.
The country's woodwork export turnovers are estimated to increase to 2.5 billion dollars in 2007 and nearly 5.6 billion dollars in 2010 from over 1.9 billion dollars in 2006, said the association.
Besides such key markets as the European Union, the United States, Japan and China's Taiwan, woodwork firms in Vietnam are intensifying exportation of their products, including tables, chairs, beds and wardrobes, to potential markets such as Canada, Russia and East Europe, and seeking more material suppliers.
The woodwork firms should establish material wholesale markets in the northern, central and southern regions, and join hands with one another to involve in a specific phase of the process of manufacturing a certain finished product, the association said.
Vietnam's wood-based products are now available in over 120 countries and regions, the association said.
