EUtube, the European Commission's channel on YouTube, has received over 1 million hits on its homepage and almost 7 million video views since its launch less than 3 months ago, said the commission Monday.
"The success of EUtube just confirms the importance of communicating in an interesting way and keeping up with the media that people like to use," said European Commission Vice President Margot Wallstrom, who is in charge of communication.
There are now 69 video clips on the channel on a wide-range of topics. The most watched video, with an astonishing 4.2 million views, is the controversial clip promoting European movies: "Film Lovers Will Love This!"
The clip was criticized by some European lawmakers over its 30-second sex scenes selected from European films. The 44-second clip features sex between 18 couples, both homosexual and heterosexual, in various settings.
