The London stock market slashed by midday on Thursday after the Bank of England's Monetary Policy committee cut interest rates to 5.25 from 5.5 percent.
The benchmark FTSE 100 index, which was down 44.8 points at the opening, shed 106.60 points to 5768.8 by 1230 GMT.
