Sweden's inflation rate declined to 3.2 percent in January from 3.5 percent in December, Statistics Sweden (SCB) said on Tuesday.
The consumer price index dropped by 0.8 percent from December to January, due largely to a 15.1 percent decline in clothing and footwear prices and a 6.2 percent drop in package holidays prices, the agency said in a statement.
But the prices of food, alcoholic beverages, tobacco, fuels and electricity continued to increase from December to January.
Higher prices for food (1.4 percent), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (5.2 percent), counteracted the decrease by 0.2 percentage points each.
Higher prices for fuels (2.5 percent), restaurants (1.3 percent), electricity (3.6 percent) and rents (0.8 percent) contributed upwards to the rate by 0.1 percentage point each, according to the agency. Source: Xinhua
