China's employment situation continues to be stable and well in the first quarter this year. It has been learned Monday, or April 28 from the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security.
From January to March, China reported an accumulated increase of 3.03 million urban employees, the same as the same period in 2007. The re-employment of laid-off workers reached 1.28 million, or 26 percent of the goal task for the whole year. Moreover, by the end of the first quarter, the registered urban unemployment reached 8.25 million with a registered unemployment rate of 4.0 percent.
In the first quarter this year, the urban labor market showed a prosperous supply and demand momentum with an increase in both demand and supply. Compared with the prior quarter, the demand rose in the labor market of Pearl River Delta, southeastern Fujian Province and the Circum-Bohai-Sea Region while it dropped in the Yangtze River Delta. Meanwhile, compared with the same 2007 period, and the supply and the demand of labors in these regions increased by a big margin in the first quarter.
