Tibet's gross regional product reached 7.603 billion yuan in the first quarter, increasing by 10.4 percent than the same period of last year, according to the report issued by Statistical Bureau of Tibet Autonomous Region on April 29, 2008.
In the first quarter, the primary industry achieved value added of 859 million yuan; the secondary industry achieved value added of 737 million yuan; the tertiary industry 6.007 billion yuan.
It is the secondary and the tertiary industries that have driven the fast economic growth in Tibet, said an official from Statistical Bureau of Tibet.
He added that driven by the fast growth of national economy in January and February, Tibet's economy had grown in a rapid and stable manner in the first quarter.
