Credit archives set up for nearly 600 million Chinese people

The Credit Reference Center under the People's Bank of China settled in Shanghai recently. It is responsible for establishing, running and managing the enterprise and personal credit investigation system, as well as providing services on credit investigation.

The enterprise and personal credit investigation system established credit archives for 13.58 million enterprises and nearly 600 million people by the end of March, 2008, according to Su Ning, vice president of the People's Bank of China.

He added that in the first quarter of 2008, the system has performed 6.53 million searches on enterprise information and 34.43 million searches on personal credit reporting. The average amount of searches daily for information on enterprises and individuals were 107,000 and 524,000 respectively, with the intra-day peak periods of respectively 134,000 and 805,000.
