Airbus, together with its mother company EADS, announced that the Airbus aircraft manufacturing unit will deliver twelve A380 aircraft in 2008 and twenty-one in 2009, instead of the thirteen in 2008 and twenty-five in 2009 it had previously targeted.

Airbus said the delay was caused by an under-assessment in the production schedule, labor resources and primary product in the first production phase.

Airbus's A380 is the biggest passenger plane in the world. The first A380 was delivered to Singapore in October 2007. Up until now, Airbus has already lost 5 billion euros in delayed contracts.
