China's trade surplus decreases by 8.6% in past five months

China's total value of imports and exports between January and May reached 1.012 trillion USD, increasing 26.2% over the same period last year, according to statistics from China Customs.

Of the total value, the export value was 545.05 billion USD, rising by 22.9%; the import value was 467.03 billion USD, growing by 30.4%. The cumulative total trade surplus reached 78.02 billion USD, decreasing by 8.6% from the same period last year. And its net decrease was 7.32 billion USD.

Meanwhile, the trade surplus in May was 20.21 billion USD, declining by 9.9% from the same period last year. Its net decrease totaled 2.21 billion USD.
