The GDP from China's ocean industry reached 1.324 trillion yuan in the first half of 2008, growing by 14.4% over the same period last year, according to a recent report issued by the State Oceanic Administration.
This accounts for 10.14% of the nation's Gross Domestic Production (GDP).
The added value of China's ocean industry GDP is 784.036 billion yuan; and the added value of ocean-related industry is 540.127 billion yuan. Meanwhile, the tri-level marine industrial structure stands at 5∶46∶49.
Moreover, China's marine economy is growing steadily. The ocean industry GDP in the Economic Region of Pan-Bohai Sea reached 473.360 billion yuan, accounting for 35.7% of China's ocean industry GDP.
The ocean industry's GDP in the Yangtze River Delta Economic Zone is 457.174 billion yuan and it is 252.986 billion yuan in the Pearl River Delta Economic Zone.
