Chinese shares opened down 3.19 percent on Monday morning following a strong rebound last Friday.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index opened at 3465.91, shedding 114.24 points from the previous close. The Shenzhen Component Index opened at 13346.05, down 2.53 percent.

Analysts said market correction would continue as investors' confidence was still weak.

Chinese shares surged 4.94 percent last Friday to end a two-day losing streak. It tumbled 5.42 percent to 3,411.49 Thursday, the lowest close since April 9 last year.
