Hong Kong stocks fell sharply by 1,121.31 points, or 7.03 percent, to close Friday's morning session at 14,821.93.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index tracked overnight sharp falls on the Wall Street to plunge 1,225.72 points, or 7.69 percent, opening at 14,717.52 on Friday, the lowest level for the blue chip index in three years.
