Chinese shares dropped 0.13 percent at June 24's opening on weakening banking shares.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index slide 0.13 percent, or 3.65 points, to open at 2,889.05. The Shenzhen Component Index shed 0.04 percent, or 4.82 points, to 11,120.84 at the opening.
