On the morning of September 8, the 40,000 square meter steel roof for the Airbus 380 maintenance hangar, near the No. 3 terminal building of Beijing Capital International Airport, was lifted 29 meters above the ground and safely placed on 45 steel poles. It marks a success in the ascension of the world's largest steel, hangar roof - the largest in size, weight, and span.

According to Yang Jingao, project manager with the Beijing Construction Engineering Group, the event marked a record in the history of steel structure engineering. The Bejing Construction Engineering Group is responsible for this project's steel construction work.

The hangar, which covers a total area of 70,437 square meters, will be put into operation before the opening of the Olympic Games in August 2008.
