First wind power station to be built in Irtysh River valley in Xinjiang

Tianrun wind power station in Buerjin County was formally put into production a few days ago. This wind power station is worth 420 million yuan with a capacity of 49.5 thousand Kilowatts. It is expected to generate electricity of 120 million Kilowatt-hours annually. Tianrun wind power station is the first wind power station in Irtysh River valley in Xinjiang. The area of Aletai in Xinjiang Province had no large wind power station before this one.

Tianrun wind power station went under construction on April 20, 2008. Invested came from Tianrun Investment Company in Beijing which is a subsidiary of Goldwind Science & Technology Corp. Its completion will improve the electricity supply structure in the Aletai area, increase the proportion of clean energy, promote domestic economic and social development and will also result in tax revenue of about 10 million yuan. It will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 145 thousand tons, nitrogen oxide by 1160 tons and sulfur dioxide by 1740 tons.

Xinjiang Province, which takes up 1/6 of China, is rich in wind power resources. According to climate data, the total reserve of wind power in Xinjiang is 872 million Kilowatts. Xinjiang has nine big wind power areas, including Dabancheng, Xiaocaohu, Tachenglaofengkou, Irtysh River valley and Lop Nur. The total area of available wind power areas is 150 thousand square kilometers. Total capacity is over 80 million Kilowatts.
