Over 12 million migrant workers have received training in construction skills from training institutions and spare-time schools, according to Wang Ning, director general of the Personnel Department under the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of China.
Statistics revealed that at present there are about 32 million construction workers in China including migrant workers, while 25 percent of all migrant workers are engaged in the construction industry.
Over 1,000 construction technology and skill training institutions have trained more than 8 million migrant workers to improve their construction skills and ability to be re-employed. Of these, over 7 million have reached a certain skill level and passed assessment to obtain construction skill certificates.
At the same time, China's 15,000 spare-time schools for migrant workers have trained a total of over 4 million migrant workers.
