On the afternoon of May 31, a cross-Strait economic and trade promotion inspection delegation from Chinese mainland arrived in Taiwan. The delegation is made up of the Association of Economy and Trade across Taiwan Straits (AETATS), together with a number of chambers of commerce and associations from Chinese mainland involving home appliances, electromechanical industry, light industry, textiles, foodstuff, native livestock products and minerals.

Led by Li Shuilin, head of AETATS, the delegation is composed of nearly 80 people from over 35 enterprises. A number of famous home appliances, electronic and information technology enterprises from Chinese mainland participate, such as Lenovo, Haier and Changhong. Others include trade, light industry and textile companies such as China National Arts & Crafts Import & Export Corporation, Tianwaitian Umbrella Company, Guangzhou Textile Import & Export Corporation, Beijing Topnew Group and Zhejiang Dingxin Arts & Crafts Company. The delegation's inspection and purchase scope is mainly focused on Taiwan's industrial consumer goods, special craftworks, foodstuffs and other products. Enterprises from Chinese mainland would also purchase other Taiwanese products of their own accord based on the market demand.

During their stay in Taiwan, the delegation would discuss with Taiwanese companies at various occasions and plans to organize one-to-one commercial negotiations and meetings with potential sellers in Taipei and Kaohsiung. In addition, to facilitate Taiwanese compatriots' understanding of Chinese mainland's relevant economic and trade policies and increase interaction opportunities between the companies on two sides of the Taiwan Strait, the delegation would organize special presentations regarding Chinese mainland's policies of expanding domestic demand and offering subsidies for home appliances sold in the countryside, as well as visiting and inspecting a number of cities, counties and enterprises.
