The per capita disposable income of urban residents was 4,834 yuan in the first quarter of this year, up 10.2 percent year-on-year. Deducting price factors, real growth reached 11.2 percent, according to the National Bureau of Statistics of China.

This growth rate is essentially on par with the 11.5 percent increase experienced during the same period last year.

In the first quarter, per capita consumption expenditure of urban households stood at 3,130 yuan, up 8.6 percent year-on-year, and a real growth of 9.6 percent after deducting price factors.

During the same time, total retail sales of consumer goods were 2.9398 trillion yuan, up 15 percent from last year. Per capita cash income of rural households during the first quarter reached 1,622 yuan, up 8.6 percent year-on-year, and a real growth of 8.6 percent after deducting price factors. The growth rate is far lower than the considerable 18.5 percent increase during the same period last year, but higher than the annual growth rate of 8 percent last year.

Per capita income from wages of rural households was 655 yuan, up 7.7 percent year-on-year. Of the total, per capita income from off-farm employment was 383 yuan, up 8.2 percent, of which, per capita income from off-farm employment in native places was 135 yuan, up 9.7 percent, and per capita income from off-farm employment in other places was 248 yuan, up 7.2 percent.

Retail sales of consumer goods in cities totaled 1.9834 trillion yuan, up 14.1 percent year-on-year. Retail sales at and below county level stood at 956.4 billion yuan, up 17 percent.
