The first China-Japan high level dialogue: to elevate economic ties

China, Japan hold high-level economic dialogue to jointly tackle financial crisis

"This dialogue enabled in-depth discussions over the economic and financial situation, environmental and energy cooperation, trade and investment cooperation and regional and international economic issues, reaching a lot of important consensus and achieving positive results."

The dialogue is a "meaningful communication" and two countries have agreed to promote open and transparent trade relations to help the world economy to revitalize.

China and Japan need to make joint efforts to turn the "crisis" into an "opportunity", prevent the spread of trade protectionism, advance the WTO Doha Round negotiation and make positive contributions to Asia's economic stability and the world economic recovery, said Chen Deming, Chinese Minister of Commerce.

The two countries agreed that they should implement the consensus reached at G20 Washington and London summits and adopt more effective measures to ensure stability in financial markets and promote their own economic growth and contribute to the early recovery of the world economy.
