Due to the continuous rainfall of the flood season, the amount of water flowing into the Three Gorges Reservoir has increased significantly. On June 30, 26 of the Three Gorges Power Station's generating units operated at full capacity for the first time.

A total of 32 700,000-kilowatt water-turbine power generating units are planned to be installed in the Three Gorges Project, which constitutes the world's largest hydro-power generating system. Of these, 26 units were planned to be initially installed and put into commercial operation at the end of October 2008. However, the units had not been able to operate at full capacity because of low water levels.

The State Grid has adopted a series of measures to ensure that electricity generated at full capacity is transmitted completely.
