Vietnam plans to reap nearly 4.3 billion U.S. dollars from exporting seafood in 2008, up some 13.3 percent against 2007, local newspaper Saigon Liberation on Friday quoted the Ministry of Industry and Trade as reporting.

Vietnam will strengthen seafood export to both traditional markets like the United States, Japan, South Korea and the European Union, and potential ones, including China, East European countries and Southeast Asian nations.

The United States annually spends some 12 billion dollars importing seafood from different foreign countries, and the European Union around 34 billion dollars, the report said.
